Secretariat appointment

On 1 April 2004, newly-appointed Counsel Annet van Hooft took up her position at the head of one of the Secretariat's seven case-management teams.

A Dutch citizen, Ms van Hooft studied law and the history of art at Utrecht University in The Netherlands and completed her legal studies in the USA with an LLM from the University of Michigan Law School. She began her professional career in 1997 with a leading international law firm. As a senior associate, she worked in the firm's European and US offices, where she specialized in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and company and project finance. During a secondment to a major Dutch-based law firm, she extended her practice areas to international litigation and arbitration. Ms van Hooft is a member of the Bars of New York and Rotterdam, and speaks Dutch, English, French and German.
